Extracellular vesicles as novel assay tools to study cellular interactions of anti-infective compounds – A perspective

چکیده

Sudden outbreaks of novel infectious diseases and the persistent evolution antimicrobial resistant pathogens make it necessary to develop specific tools quickly understand pathogen-cell interactions study appropriate drug delivery strategies. Extracellular vesicles (EVs) are cell-specific biogenic transport systems, which gaining more popularity as either diagnostic markers or systems. Apart from that, there emerging possibilities for EVs penetration, drug-membrane well pathogen-membrane interactions. However, appears that potential such applications has not been fully exploited yet. Considering vast variety cells can be involved in an infection, vesicle-based analytical methods just number reported is still relatively small. Aim this review discuss current state art EV-based assays, especially context research therapy, present some new perspectives a exhaustive creative exploration future.
